General Secretariat holds Seventh Session of Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Housing, Water Resources, and Disaster Reduction Department) will convene the Seventh Session of the Arab Coordination Mechanism for Disaster Risk Reduction from 14 to 16 October in Manama. The meeting will be hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, with the participation of several Arab, regional, and international organisations specialised in disaster risk reduction.

​The 82nd session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs is held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States on 13 October under the chairmanship of Her Excellency Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity of the Arab Republic of Egypt and gead of the Executive Office of the Council, with the participation of ministers and heads of delegations from the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the Union of the Comoros, the State of Kuwait, the Lebanese Republic, and the State of Libya.

Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries launches two training programmes on diplomacy in Nairobi and engineering in Mombasa

​As part of the Arab-African cooperation programmes implemented by the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries, in collaboration with the League of Arab States' Mission in Nairobi, a training programme for 100 Kenyan diplomats of various levels, including several ambassadors, was launched on 13 October at the Diplomatic Academy of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The programme, conducted both in person and via videoconference, runs through 17 October.

Aboul Gheit to head to Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in Peace Summit

​His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Economic Affairs Sector, inaugurated the Regional Meeting of the Expert Group on "Strengthening Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Systems in the Arab Region." The meeting, held in Cairo from 7 to 9 October, is organised by the Department of Statistics and Data Management, in coordination with the Legal Affairs Department and the Social Studies and Field Surveys Unit, and in cooperation with the Regional Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for Arab States and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

​A seminar marking the launch of seven translations of the two books "Witness to War and Peace" and "My Testimony", by Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, will be held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States on 7 October. The seminar is organised in cooperation with Nahdet Misr Publishing House, the publisher of both books.
